The Year 12 Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts student is a soloist in this year’s show and saw her first Southern Stars as a primary school student.
She was so impressed that she decided she wanted to be a featured artist in the show the following year.
Now at the end of high school, she credits seven years of singing in Southern Stars shows for inspiring her plans after school.
“I want to audition for the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and some of the other institutes too,” she said.
“From when I was little, Southern Stars has been what has made me want to sing and perform and I can’t think of anything that I would want to do besides performing.”
Emily will sing in a number of items in this year’s show, including a duet with compere Daniel D’Amico and a solo performance of Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger.
At an all-day practice session on Saturday, she said she was excited about the upcoming technical rehearsal week but expected to shed a few tears once her final show was over.
Southern Stars is on at WIN Entertainment Centre this Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are available from Ticketek.
