Radio host Jackie O has sold her country hideaway for a multimillion-dollar sum.The house that Jackie O built near Berry has fetched nearly $2.5 million.
The 2Day FM co-host and her partner, Lee Henderson, made it their holiday retreat in 2009 and it was where she did some of her early morning programs while pregnant with daughter Kitty last year to save travelling.
The country farmhouse, known as Glen Athan, between Berry and Kangaroo Valley, is set away from prying eyes on elevated land with a resort-style swimming pool and 180-degree views of Kangaroo Valley.
Ray White agent Shane Hilaire said the 42-hectare property was on the market for 60 days with interest mainly from Sydney buyers.
‘‘Jackie and Lee bought the land in 2005 and three years ago they built a classic home with a French provincial finish.
‘‘They love the place but with the baby and work commitments they felt it was time to move back to Sydney permanently,’’ he said.
Jackie O styled the house, which Mr Hilaire said was one of the strong selling points.
Built by a Berry firm (Strongbuild) it includes rustic wide-board flooring, timber-lined walls and ceilings, double French doors, South Australian slate hearths and 150-year-old convict-hewn sandstone.
It has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a library, a study and an office, from where the breakfast show that Jackie O hosts with Kyle Sandilands was broadcast.
Outside there is a wet-edge gas heated pool, a private flagstone courtyard and rose terrace with a slate-roofed bread and pizza oven.
The property was sold to a Sydney family.
