Brothers ready to jam

IN THE MOOD: Jay and Aiden of Mooditj Brothers are keen to play at Settlers on Sunday.JOINING up at the start of the year, Perth acoustic guitarist Aiden Varro and didge/percussionist Jay Gresham know they’re onto a good thing.

Named the Mooditj Brothers, meaning “solid” or “good” in Noongar, the band features acoustic roots and didge jams with touches of blues and reggae.

Aiden’s Weissenborn lapslide guitar and open-tuned 12 string mixes with Jay’s djembe percussion and didgeridoo droning and barking as the two improvise jam tracks and perform Aiden’s original material. Aiden chose Brothers as his favourite to play. “We ‘ve been jamming on the djemebs together at the end,” he said. See it happen at Settlers Tavern, Margaret River on Sunday.
