FINDING FITNESS: Kristi Head and Sarah Kissell from the recreation centre can help would-be runners prepare.WANT to get fit before the Margaret River Fun Run on October 28? Margaret River Recreation Centre fitness staff members can help, with training sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Sarah Kissell and Kristi Head said the sessions will cater to all fitness levels and abilities, with a focus on people who have not run 10km before.
“We want to encourage the (people) that don’t think they can do it,” Sarah said. ‘We’ll also help the ones who have run before, who just need a bit of motivation.”
Tuesday and Thursday sessions at Gloucester Park oval will involve building endurance, sprint work and intervals. Times are to be confirmed but will probably be from 6 or 6.30am, and from 5 or 5.30pm, depending on what suits most people.
Saturday sessions will involve long, easy runs leaving at 7am from different locations. People participating in the fun run have a choice of 4km or 10km distance, running or walking.
“Challenge yourself,” Kristi said. “If you’re thinking about it, think seriously.”

The Recreation Centre is also teaming up with the Mail to feature a weekly training program, starting next week.
